Apeel Avocados: How to store

Apeel is a family of plant-derived coatings that fresh food growers, suppliers, and retailers use to keep produce fresh. Produce with Apeel stays fresh two to three times longer, which promotes more sustainable growing practices, better quality food, and less food waste for everyone. For growers, suppliers, and retailers, Apeel is the only postharvest solution that creates an optimal microclimate inside every piece of produce, which leads to extended shelf life and transportability — with reduced reliance on refrigeration and controlled atmosphere.

What does this mean for your avocado storage?

Your Apeel avocados will last 2 times longer than a typical store bought avocado.

Store your unripe avocados on the counter in room temperature until they are soft to the touch. Once they are soft, store them in the fridge for up to 1 week. Yes, avocados all week!

Storing ripe avocados in the fridge keeps them fresh and ready for use.

To freeze, select slightly firm, ripe avocados. Slice into half and remove the pit. Peel the skin away and flash freeze slices on a cookie sheet in the freezer for up to an hour. Remove and place in a freezer-safe bag for long term storage.
